Like many of you, I’ve struggled with my weight almost all my life. I started gaining weight when I entered school, and my first diet was when I was 10-11. Don’t rag on my mother, she was trying to help me figure it out so I could learn and use that understanding for the rest of my life. She wasn’t good at it, and neither was I, so it did not work out as we hoped, but the reason it didn’t work is because I wouldn’t work it. Thus began my 40-year Diet Yo-Yo.
People think I’m naturally thin now, but that’s certainly not true. I make better choices than I used to.
Weight loss is not magic, and too many out there have deceived people into believing it could be. Use this herb, this procedure, this diet, this injectable – then the weight will fall right off you! Deep sigh —
I’ve helped a lot of clients, most of my clients, in fact are those who regained their weight after such promises. Notice they never say it will STAY off you. That would be a flat-out lie.
Has it worked for some people? Sure. As long as they are doing it, but it doesn’t work long-term. Once you stop taking it or following the protocol or delete the app, what happens? Did you think, “When I get to the goal weight – or lose a few pounds – then I can maintain.”
Aye, and me. Hands up – did that work for you? Didn’t for me either.
NOTHING works long-term but actual change to our consistency with food choices.
For me, and maybe for you, we have to manage our emotional stuff, our particular form of self-sabotage, our specific nutritional needs and challenges. And then it still comes down to consistency.
The dirty little secret in the weight loss industry is that every diet, pill, potion, and powder works when you follow the protocol. It’s so annoying – any time I follow a plan—like really follow it, I lose weight. Every stinking time. When I fudge the numbers a bit, it stops working. Every stinking time.
We just don’t like feeling restricted. Mind, I don’t like my waistline feeling restricted when I’ve overdone it either. We make our choices.
Now, that doesn’t mean you never get to have something you want. It means we must be wise about having what we want.
It’s a subtle shift in thinking, but it’s essential for long-term success. If you’re ready for some help making that shift, let’s talk: [email protected]
