Stores are filled with the scent and sights of new school supplies!  Yellow #2 pencils – I can still smell the mix of wood and lead from the sharpener.  Pens, paper for spirals, folders, and 3-ring notebooks, all manner of plastic for binders and cases, new lunch boxes and containers, plus glue, markers, crayons, colored pencils, and backpacks – the perennial tools for learning.

It’s a new year for students, and perhaps like many of you, it’s been a long time since my last “first day,” but do we ever lose that sense of this time of year as a fresh start?  I hope not.  It’s full of hope, determination, and purpose.

So what would you like to start afresh?

My clients look down the calendar to December and the end of the year and evaluate what’s left for them to do toward their 2022 goals. It may be reaching their goal weight or size, it may be unpacking emotional baggage like memories, blocks, and harsh words spoken, or completing a project.  Oftentimes by now, we need a boost to keep going.

How do we do that?

The basic structure is always the same:

1. Take care of the body.  Evaluate how well you’re doing.  Many women lose sight of it in the rush to care for others.  Check your self-care – sleep, good nutrition and exercise, and rest are basic but essential and often overlooked, and we do suffer for it.

2.  Emotional baggage that we hang onto.  It’s exhausting, isn’t it?  Yet we do it.  And it’s odd, every time I let go of something I’ve had a stranglehold on, I wonder why I held on for so long.  Letting it go is the way we free our own hearts.

3.  Being your best self.  Mind, if we’d focus on this, the other two would be sorted.

Letting your heart heal is the linchpin to all of this.  It allows you to see clearly rather than through the lens of your wounds, which is much like a funhouse mirror.  There is a reflection of truth, but it’s distorted, partial, and misshapen.  If you try to work from it, right yourself when you stumble a little, you’re likely to hurt yourself more.  Healing your heart is the only way to see the truth again, which would save so much head space we often use for questioning our worth or feeling awful about ourselves or talking harshly to ourselves.  And, you’ll have energy to be who you were made to be.  What a lovely place from which to start afresh!  Imagine what you could do from there.

If you are ready to start afresh, book a call with me. We can get you where you want to be.
