Amidst the special offers, emails, challenges, and webinars – it all sounds good.  Yes, I want that.  THAT will do it for me! 

Hold on there, flower, let’s just check in:  First and foremost, know what you want to accomplish. 

Look at what programs promise:  Lose 60 pounds in 6 weeks – seriously, I got that in a text.  Or there are bodies rippling with muscle.  The guns on those women are amazing, but I’d be happy to just get some tone to my upper arms to avoid the batwings, right?   

I talk to a lot of people who want to lose weight.  Men tend to talk about their belt size more than their biceps.  Women overwhelmingly talk about being healthy and looking good in their clothes that are not a size two but more like a 12 or 14.  Sometimes an 8.  They’re happy with 150 or 175 and believe that at 135, they’d look ill.  What do you want?  If they’re selling a size two, ask if they will support you if you prefer a 12.  It’s YOUR goal, and you need a coach who supports YOU – and not just their program or vision.

For your part, we know we have to do something different to get a different result.  Are you willing to do that?  Especially when it’s hard. Emotional Eaters have to find a different way to comfort ourselves, and that can feel vulnerable and uncomfortable as we make changes.   Having a coach there for support can make a huge difference, but we also have to be honest with ourselves.  Are you ready to find a new way to do this?

Honestly, I’ve had to let a few clients go when they weren’t. Have you had that experience?  Much as you want to focus on a goal, you just don’t have the wherewithal or energy or focus or enough desire to move you forward.  We want the result, but doing what we need to do to get there – maybe not so much.  I get that. Remember me?  I’m the one who spent 40 years on a diet not being willing to make changes that would make the difference. 

Look at that program and the coach:  Will what they’re offering match you and what you want?
