“And the Soul Felt Its Worth”
It’s a line from my favorite Christmas carol, O Holy Night.
A number of years ago, someone pointed out this line that I’d sung for years, but it hadn’t registered with me.
Every day in my work and in social activity, I see the epidemic of the low value we place on ourselves, of how we beat up on ourselves when we can’t make changes we want to make. With that kind of beat down, how can our souls feel their worth?
This season, for so many spiritual traditions, is about love and the light that comes into the world. Even the days start getting longer again. Light brings vision. It brings clarity. It brings hope.
In your journey to health, I would invite you to shine some light on your value. It’s not about your waist or body measurements just like it isn’t about your knowledge, your occupation, or your financial status. It’s about your heart, who you are, and sharing that with others.
KNOW that your worth is never in question; it’s not even on the table for discussion.
Whatever you eat or don’t eat, however you exercise or don’t, whatever your size or shape, whether you have a large family, a small one, or none, or whether you’re celebrating or walking through a “blue” holiday season, be kind enough to see the amazing value you bring to the world.
Let your soul feel its worth.
What difference might that make for you?
When you feel your worth, what might you do differently? How much easier is it to reach your goals when you feel good about yourself? For me, it makes all the difference.
Are you ready to put such questions behind you? Recognizing your value puts everything else in a different category. It makes it so much easier to reach your goals – for weight loss or anything else.
