Friends, Do you believe you can reach your goal? After being on a constant diet – on/off/on/off/on/oh, so off now – for 40 years and likely a couple thousand pounds, I no longer believed I would be able to maintain any goal weight if I ever got there. I could lose it, but the truth is that I didn’t believe I could keep it off. They say yo-yo dieting is bad, but I’d never seen anyone do anything else. No one maintains that, right? The cycle of life is gaining and losing over and over again, isn’t it? If someone did maintain it, they were lucky or had a great metabolism or something—it wasn’t normal. Hear the limitations in that? Belief is defined as the state of mind in which a person thinks something to be the case, with or without empirical evidence to prove it. It may or may not be true, but it is true for us. If we don’t believe we can lose a desired number of pounds no matter what program we follow, we never will lose them. If we don’t believe we can stay near our goal weight, we never will. The truth is that we can change these kinds of beliefs. It takes time, practice, and motivation, and it can be done. We once believed the earth was flat, and a flat stomach is essentially only a belief shift away. What do you believe? What do you want to believe? If you need some help to shift some of those beliefs, don’t hesitate to contact me. We can get you there. All the best, Renée
